Apple iPhone is a phenomenal phone which was first unveiled by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Conference and Expo in San Francisco in January 2007. The first iPhone had a limited functionality. It was almost just like a computer that could be used to make phone calls as it was not being able to connect to the internet independently of WiFi. The world was shocked with the iPhone as one million iPhone was sold in only 74 days after the launched.
In June 9, 2008, Apple introduced the second generation iPhone, the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 3G had in two storage options, 8GB and 16GB and was released in twenty-two countries. The phone was finally discontinued and replaced by iPhone 3GS.
The 8 GB iPhone 3GS was announced on June 9, 2009 and was sold at $99 with a 2-year contract. It had an improved battery life, network speed and camera quality. The iPhone 3GS was sold 1 million in its first weekend.
On June 7, 2010, Apple released the iPhone 4 at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. People was not really surprised with the release of iPhone 4 as the company was just released the phenomenal iPad two months earlier. The iPhone 4 had a new hardware design and Retina Display. This was the first iPhone to include a front-facing camera. The iPhone 4 had a boomed sales as it was sold for 1.7 million units within only three days after the release date.
The iPhone 4s was launched on October 4, 2011. It had a significant upgrade from its predecessor with its iOS 5. The new OS had new features including iCloud, iMessage, Notification Center, Reminders, and Twitter integration. The iPhone 4s was the first iPhone to run Siri. In the first weekend, the iPhone 4s was sold at 4 million units, making it was the fastest selling iPhone at that time.
The Apple iPhone 5 arrived a year later. It was faster than the iPhone 4s and has a thinner and lighter design. The iPhone 5 also had better camera performance with its new features such as a low-light mode and a panorama feature.
On September 10, 2013, Apple introduced the iPhones 5s alongside with the iPhone 5c. The iPhone 5s had Apple A7 chip and shipped with iOS 7. Apple described the iPhone 5s as the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world.Advertisment
The iPhone 5c had a bright plastic casing and the company described it as the most colorful iPhone yet. Within only three days, Apple sold nine million of iPhone 5s and 5c models.
On September 9, 2014, Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 alongside with the iPhone 6 Plus in California. The iPhone 6 has 5.5-inches display while the iPhone 6 Plus has 5.5-inches display. Both phones has a faster processor and upgraded cameras. They also have improved LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity. Within only three days, apple sold more than 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
On September 9, 2015, Apple introduced the iPhone 6S at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, alongside with the iPhone 6S Plus, Apple TV, iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4. The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus runs iOS 9 and have the same screen sizes as their predecessors. The new iPhones are also available in new color option, rose gold. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have new feature, the 3D Touch, which allows user to apply different levels of pressure to their iPhone’s touchscreen to open sub-menus.
