What is Apple Pencil?

Apple Pen is a stylus designed for iPad Pro. It builds on the Multi-Touch function and allows the use of even more effects and creative freedoms that make writing and drawing accessible and fun. This Apple Pencil guide will give you an easy run through on how to use the new and improved tool.

How does it work?

Apple Pen uses lightning-fast responsiveness and a short latency time to show exactly what you write or draw on your iPad Pro’s screen, down to one pixel.

Pairing Apple Pencil with your iPad Pro

This is the first step to being able to use Apple Pen. You will need to set it up so that it pairs with your iPad Pro and you can begin using it.

First, simply take off the cap from Apple Pen and plug it into the Lightning connector on your iPad Pro. You will see the Pair button show up on your screen. Tap it and you’re connected. It’s as easy as that.

Once it has been paired, this will be consistent unless you restart your iPad, pair Apple Pen with a different iPad, or put your iPad in airplane mode. If you do so, all you will have to do is pair it again.

Using Apple Pencil

You can use Apple Pen with a multitude of both built-in apps and apps that can be downloaded from the App Store. The easiest and most basic way is to use the Notes app:

  1. Open Notes.
  2. Tap the squiggly line.
  3. Choose from the drawing tools and different colors.
  4. Start drawing.
  5. If you make a mistake, you can switch to the eraser.

It’s that easy to use Apple Pen, and there are many apps you can explore if you would like to get more artistic.

Charging Apple Pencil

When you run out of charge, it is very easy to power Apple Pen back up. Simply plug it into the Lightning connector. Charging it for only fifteen seconds gives you thirty more minutes of use.
